Decoding: Why We Need Web 3.0?

Let’s decode the need for Web 3.0 today. Web 3.0 is the revolutionary form of the internet, arriving (in parts) in recent days.

Imagine a digital realm where websites are no longer subject to the whims of powerful corporations that control servers and user data. Well, this article is all about this concern. Welcome to the era of Web 3.0 and the decentralized Internet!

In this article, we will dive into the rise of Web 3.0 and explore: why we need Web 3.0, and how it offers a sustainable solution for websites, freeing them from the clutches of large corporations

What is Web 3.0?

In recent decades, the internet has evolved in various forms. Traditionally, we got Web 1.0 which consists of basic HTML pages, further, we transformed to Web 2.0, consisting of user-generated content and social media. We witnessed the evolving digital ecosystem, that is continuously expanding.

But, now, it is time to enter Web 3.0, often dubbed as “Semantic Web,” where the focus shifts from user-generated content to machine learning and processes data. And, the internet that provides a decentralized, trustful, straight, and user-centric data experience.

Internet Before Web 3.0

Around 75% of internet users are unaware that, corporations collect their data. In recent years, consumers have expressed their willingness to take action to protect their privacy and personal data.

According to a survey in 2023, 73% of consumers are more concerned about their data privacy now than they were a few years ago. Additionally, 64% of respondents feel their data is less secure today than it was a few years ago, and 67% believe the government should do more to protect data privacy. However, 66% of respondents also agree that the user is primarily responsible for their own data security. This indicates rising anxiety among consumers about how their data is handled by corporations and government entities.

Why We Need Web 3.0?

We could hope that Web 3.0 will change the internet is operated. Unlike human-driven platforms, AI will take over the command of content production. This will minimize the issues of trustability of the content, the scams of the internet, and the coverage of news faster than ever.

Moreover, with an effortless flow of creative content, social media handles will be loaded with fruitful content for every taste. It will be much easier to market to the desired audience.

It also reduces the privacy concerns, users are facing nowadays, with leading social media handles. As they store critical data of the users and track their activities on the platforms, we could hope for Web 3.0 social media platforms to solve our privacy concerns (and, many platforms are doing so).

However, we have to take into account, the AI’s command will be in the hands of its operator. As its machine technology, minor errors could spoil the user experience and could impact critical issues on the economy of the world too (as social media influencers and platforms also contribute a lot to the economy)
